Yahoo / Outlook CSV to iCal Calendar Convertor (for iPod, iPhone, and iCal)

This is an online convertor for Yahoo Calendar CSV files. It generates iCalendar (iCal, .ics) files, which are compatible with Apple iPhone, Apple iPod, Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, PHP iCalendar. The iCalendar format is an IETF standard for calendar information.

To view your Yahoo Calendar on your Apple iPod, simply convert it using this site and save the output to the Calendars folder on your iPod. That's all there is to it!

1. Obtain CSV file from Yahoo Calendar:

Login to Yahoo! Calendar
Go to Options (there's a link on the right side of the page).
Select Import/Export.
Choose Export to Outlook (.csv).
Save the file somewhere on your disk.

2. Select the CSV file:

Locate the CSV file saved in Step 1.

3. Advanced Options (Optional)

Calendar Name:

Name your calendar:
This name appears in applications such as Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird and PHP iCalendar.

Calendar Time Zone:

Select the timezone that your calendar was created in. Typically, this is the timezone of the place you are at. If your events show up at the wrong time (e.g. every event is 4 hours late) then you probably selected the wrong timezone here.

Repeating Events:

Mark all-day events as repeating yearly (e.g. Birthdays, Anniversaries.)
Due to the limited information that Yahoo includes in the exported file, it is not possible to include accurate data about repeated events (e.g. weekly, monthly, or yearly events.) This option is a heuristic workaround that lets you select what to do with such events.

This service is provided as-is and with no warranties, and this conversion may not work for all calendars.

Known Issues

Because of the limited information that is available in the exported file, conversions will not be perfect. For example, repeated events are not correctly included in Yahoo's CSV file. Hence, for an event that repeats, say every year, you will see one entry for each such year, up to the year 2038. The convertor does not automatically detect such erroneous duplicates at this point, though this may change in the future.
